Delayed post!

November 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Vernon, BC folks. Matt & I left on Monday and headed to Calgary where we met up with my friend Nora, who is super sweet. We enjoyed a few bottles of wine and then we were off to Sunshine Village in the morning. Sunshine was unreal, it snowed the whole time we were there and Matt and I managed to get pretty stuck in spots that were waist deep. Overall fun day, but there’s only one picture of matt from the end of the day since I forgot my camera in the car that morning.

After that we headed for Vernon, we made a few stops along the way… We stopped in Revelstoke for some food and a stretch (it’s a 6 hour drive from calgary!) Then we continued on our way and stopped at a small town bar called “The Burner” on the #1 between Vernon and Sicamous. It was a pretty cool little place. It was decorated with old logging saws and like giant 4 foot chain saws. Pretty intense decorating, but everyone there was really nice and it was worth stopping. The sign is ghetto and it made me think twice about stopping when we pulled up but it was all good once you got inside!

After that we headed to Vernon and unpacked and met our “upstairs roomie” a pretty sweet guy from Ontario named Jeff. He’s still waiting for the rest of his roommates to show up too. We were in Vernon for like 2 hours before Matt’s Kelowna friends called and we were off to session a pvc pipe on the other side of Vernon. Pretty sweet setup overall… I crashed lots and got some pretty sweet hip bruises. After that we basically just spent the next couple of days riding big white and having drinks with some new friends. (ps I wrote this on monday but didn’t get it posted until today!) We got some really foggy snowy days and then on tuesday it was crazy foggy and then just BAM it switched to bluebird and was the best riding I’ve gotten yet!

My sister recently started a new blog, The Generic Hound. She’s going to be reviewing things like pet foods and toys. She’s a fantastic writer and a wonderful animal activist for her local SPCA in Saskatoon. She’s also up on the local pet & SPCA related events around Saskatoon and a good source of animal adoption advice. So if you have a dog or cat and are interested in it’s well being, take a minute to check out her blog! the generic hound.

Randoms

I’m pretty sure I have H1N1…so I’ve been reading lots of random crap on the internet to pass the time until I feel human again. So here’s my list of things I liked that you should probably like too. Ahh just kidding…but no, not really I’m pretty serious.

never give up

Wtf is up with the people who designed these shorts? So ridiculous!

2010/2011 Outerwear preview is up on Transworld Business! Check it out for designs from 686, Nomis, Burton, Bonfire, and many more. Don’t expect to be shocked by anything though, and there’s some pieces and prints that are 2009/2010 outerwear as well…

Here are my faves!

I’m not a huge fan of the pants, they have a bit of an odd cut but I do like the jacket!

Men’s outfit is lacking but I love the two blues in the women’s jacket.

This had to be posted… I really don’t know how I feel about it to be honest. It’s definitely ugly but I might still like it…. just a little bit?

Another interesting piece from Transworld Business is an interview with Annie Boulanger, she’s leading the ‘exposure-meter’ on the site which is a huge suprise and definitely worth checking out. “Annie Boulanger is one of the best snowboarders in the world. Notice that wasn’t prefaced with “female,” “girl,” “women,” or any other adjective…”

The Reason with Andrew Geeves. This came up while I was searching for an old sbc article on Bralorne…turns out what I was looking for was a SBC Women’s Annual article and I still can’t find it online but anyways  if you haven’t already seen this check it out!

0:28 is winnipeg, no? and dear park designer…I want a feature like the one at 0:37, pretty please!

The Rain Skit on Gabe L’Heureux’s blog pretty much made my day… wanna see Shaun White get drenched?

Pretty sure I need these…Electric EG5 s in discoteca

Check out Yobeat’s Hump Day with Grenade’s Josesph Condorelli by Brooke Geery. How do you feel about the fact that he wasn’t involved with snowboarding prior to Grenade? Good, bad, or do you care at all?

Just a Little Bit…

November 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

“In this book, his father had written as an inscription and directive, write what you want. Every day, or as often as you can, write what you want. That way, whenever you’re confused or rudderless, you can look to this book, and be reminded where you want to go and what you’re looking for…this journal was for positive wants, not negative wants. When you wanted something negative, it didn’t count, he said. A want should be positive, his father had said. A want should improve your life while improving the world, even if just a little bit.”

Halloween 2009

November 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So It’s finally November 1st, meaning the ridiculousness of halloween is finally over. I survived but just barely! I made my halloween debut in a pirate costume this year, conviently made up of things in my closet (minus the hat). I amazed how many things I had in my closet that fit the costume. Maybe I should always use a pirate for my fashion inspiration? Probably not a wise choice… Anyways on with the pictures. I met up with some high school friends at the local town bar for a night of drinks and dancing. Local band Stuck on Red was playing, and as always they were fantastic! After that the after party carried on and eventually I made the unwise choice of running home in the snow at 4am. Now I’m sick and still nursing the worst hangover I’ve ever had. Yuck…anyways hope you had a safe and happy halloween!!
