Rail Wars at Asessippi is going off February 20th, Sponsored by Xtreme Adrenaline Boardshop this year it’s going to be so sick! Come and ride/check out the contest or just hit up the after party going down in the Sugar Shacks. Tickets for the party can be purchased from the events coordinator, Shannon at (204) 564-2000 ext. 106 or by stopping by the Xtreme Adrenaline shop on Rochdale Blvd
and they’re hosting a RBC riders cup on a slopestyle course, they’re looking for new riders for Team Saskatchewan so if you’re under 18 and from Saskatchewan and you’re got mad skills go check it out…
The boys had an editting date this weekend and they managed to pull together enough footage to put together this little clip of Matt. I think they’re planning on adding parts for all of our roommates, including a bail reel for Scaff…stay tuned! For now though here’s Matt Bergen’s part, it was edited by Jeff Barrett. Enjoy!
I’ve also got some random photos to toss up. Once again our good buddy Fej stopped by to crash on our couch for a few days and hooked me up with some new dragon rogue’s with skull candy’s, I’m pretty pumped on them right now… I definitely needed some new goggles! We’ve mostly been riding Silver Star for the past few days, I’ve been trying to learn to film better. (I filmed part of matt’s edit, yay!) My sister is coming out to visit for a few days starting friday so I think we’ll probably hit up some $5 night skiing at big white which is super fun cause they have a killer mini park, and then just ride at Silver Star for a day or two as well. I’m super excited that she’s coming out to visit because I’ve been so stressed out lately. We ran into some roommate problems the last couple weeks and Becks headed home, I’m definitely missing my old riding buddy now that she’s gone…then to make matters worse my car got broken into and my Sirius radio, all my cds, and my car manual were stolen out of my car. I’m almost ready to call it quits and head back to Saskatchewan already… boooo! But anyways here’s some pictures from the last couple of weeks.
So being home again means more blog posts, hooray! I stopped at Xtreme-Adrenaline on my through Regina the other night and Eldon passed along a copy of the new Snowboard Canada Women’s Annual to me (Thanks Eldon! ) and I’ve got to say I was super impressed by this issue compared to the past ones. There wasn’t a huge change in the amount of content or the appearance or anything, what impressed me was the actual article ideas and most notably the Step Up section. You might recall me whining about the problem’s with women’s snowboarding a while back with my post Good for a Girl. The inspiration behind that post was the SBC women’s annual trick tip, which was a 50-50 on to a rail. In this issue the trick tip (Step Up) is a Cab 540! Hooray! Finally a trick that brings us a little bit closer to the level of trick tips that the men are always getting. Jess Kimura is the “teacher” in this one, and it’s pretty much perfect… thanks SBC for giving us something awesome this time around, I love it!

Another one of my favourite articles in the new mag is called “Defining Style.” It takes a look at the riding style of five female shredders in five different photos. Cheryl Maas, Marie-France Roy, Laura Hadar, Hana Beaman, and Desiree Melancon are all the ladies featured in this one. I really liked the idea of this one because in snowboarding your riding style is just so important. If you have a messy or sketchy style it will come through in shots or in video parts and make you look like you have no idea what you’re doing. I can think of a million examples of bad styles that I’ve seen over the years, there are lots of girls that are good riders but they just have bad style and it makes them look out of control all the time. If you don’t know what I’m talking about go watch some female video parts (think la la land, ro sham bo, or stance) and you’ll definitely be able to see the difference between the riders who are really solid and have good style and the riders who are definitely talented but are lacking in the style department. For example, when you see a shot of MFR or Laura Hadar you don’t need to see a name to tell who the rider is. Their style shows through in the shot right away! Okay anyways enough of that rant for now…
This issue also has a short story from Allie Jenkinson (http://alliejenkinson.com/blog/) Who is a phenomenal writer, you can go read the story on her husband Mike Berard’s blog…The story is called All Time Hereafter. Then go check out her blog for some more stories!

TJ Schneider & the snowboard realms take a look at Vancouver’s streets…
“just a short little movie I put together of Bart , Brad and Sylvain. 3 homeless men from Vancouver.
I made portrait of Sylvain and gave it to him to sell to try and buy some food, I like that he wanted to keep it.
The night we met he told me I was different than most people.
That he could tell …. I am a good man.”
This one is random…but it’s an Iheartsnow productions vid and they’re making me so jealous. We have no snow again..
Do you all remember this? Switch the Movie, for some reason it’s all over the internet again. Maybe it’s actually coming out this time? Chris Brown is in it, FYI. I remember Zach showing me this like two years ago, and I wanted to see it sooo bad but then it just disappeared… I was actually wondering about it a few weeks ago… anyone know the story behind this? I heard that it’s got new producers, and it’s coming out this year sometime. Rumour or truth?
6’s & 7’s by Nuulife cinemas and Elektro by Alterna films will be premiering in Winnipeg on September 28th at the Park Theater on Osborne St. It’s an all ages event, but anyone 18+ can enjoy the licensed bar at the theater. Tickets are $5 at the door and the first movie starts at 7:30.
I picked up the stepchild moustache rider from Xtreme-Adrenaline a little while back, and I’m sooo pumped on it! I can’t wait for the season to start already…
I picked it up in the 146cm, it came with the mostly white base which is exactly what I wanted! Yaaaay! I also gotta say a ton of thanks to Eldon, he also hooked me up with the new stepchild/thirty two video, “This Video Sucks” which is worth watching for JP’s part alone! Go check out his online shop at www.xtreme-adrenaline.com
So I headed up to moose jaw after work for SIAST thirsty thursday cause I have nothing else to do since I have no job! My friend Amanda just moved there for school and I lived there for a year too, so went up to visit her and show her around the city. We met up with some of my old friends at the Park, it was a little reunion night…pretty fun night overall. We did some shopping today, and then I stopped at XA in regina on my way home and I think I have all my gear decisions made now! In other news, Nora and I went kayaking and the water was sooo calm and so pretty. Here’s some shots!
Check out Sask riders Mark McMorris, Craig McMorris, Xtreme Adrenaline rider Connor Copithorn, and Kurtis Roethker all from Regina, and Kyle Herperger from Esterhazy in Nuulife cinema’s 2nd teaser for their movie dropping fall 2009 – Sixes and Seven’s…
They are also doing a contest with skull candy, so head over to the Nuulife blog to see how you can get in on that.
Camp of Champions – King Snow videos of weeks 1, 2, and 3 filmed by Ryan Kenny…go check it out by clicking here or going to www.kingsnowmag.com watch week three, it completely explains why Jon Versteeg is my new favourite person…haha
So I went to Regina last saturday to hang out with Becky and Michelle. Becks had to work at XA for a few hours so we got to visit Chuck too! Mitch and I wandered around regina, went to the hemp emporium where I got this amazing lotion that smells like lemonade…mmm delicious! We didn’t really get any shopping done, we just wandered up and down 13th ave checking out the scene and then went to the park for a little picnic. Then we went to taps with chuck for supper and then went for the longest skate on the boards ever. From the end of wascana all the way down to broad st and back and then we just crashed cause we were all too tired to do anything! Then the plan was Saskatoon for me, but I’m home now, and off to yorkton today, and moosejaw/regina tomorrow!
I look like a midget with Becks and Mitch!
Chuck!
Becky with the “Third Wheel” longboard, and Mitch with her “Date board” Some friends of the guys at XA built the really huge longboard, becky and mitch rode it around for a bit, and it turns just fine! It’s pretty amazing!
Ch-ch-check it out. Becky Maclean started riding for Xtreme-Adrenaline Boardshop out of Regina this past season, and will be reppin’ for them again in the 2009/2010 season. So you should probablygo check out her profile here. I took my CASI course with Becky in 2005, and I can totally vouch that she’s not only a total babe and amazing rider but she’s also an easy-going, super fun person to hang out with! Can’t wait to go on more shred adventures with this girl!
